Outfit of the Day

Happy December everyone! There are only

30 more days

left in 2014! Time is flying and 2015 is quickly approaching! Luckily we've been having some amazing weather these last couple days, so I had a chance to really put some outfits together without worrying about being cold!

Lately the weather has been super warm in the day and super chilly in the night. So sometimes its hard to chose what to wear! I don't want to get stuck in the cold underdressed! I can't lie, today I had nothing to wear.

I worked all last week including Thanksgiving and Black Friday and had no time to plan an outfit for today's post.

Whenever I have nothing to wear, I tend to opt for an all black ensemble. It's important to have a few staple black pieces that you can just throw together, because sometimes you just dont have time to figure out if you look "put together". Black will always be sleek and chic.

I had a little fun with today's fit because I played with textures. Yes, it's all black but my turtleneck (Gap) is made of basic cotton, while my pencil skirt (HM) is made of a satin/viscose blend which gave it a bit of sheen. I was a little reluctant to put these two together because believe it or not, some blacks do not match! Your black garments can fade after wash or they have different undertones.

After I paired those two together, I needed a layering piece. I did not want to wear any jewelry. I liked the simplicity of this fit. This cardigan (HM) was the perfect layering piece for such a dark outfit. It was main event! The print was perfect for an all black fit and it was about the same length of the skirt so there wasn't an awkward contrast in hemlines. (I pay attention to the subtle things!) It was made of such a thick material that I didnt wear a coat...and it has pockets! This cardigan was definitely a great investment.

I wanted a bit of drama so I added this wide-brimmed wool hat (HM). Thankfully it was a similar texture to the cardigan so I was still well coordinated. It has as much fabulosity as my wool floppy hat and you know that floppy hat slays!

Today was a perfect example of how a simple outfit can boost your confidence. In a turtleneck, skirt and cardigan I totally felt like a superstar after a horrible week.  I hope you guys feel this way everyday. If not, I hope I can inspire you to create looks of your own that will turn heads!

A  HUGE thank you to my photographers Shawn Henry (@savoring_moments) and Tyler Duffy for shooting me soo last minute! Those gentlemen really know how to use a camera!

Have an amazing week everyone! Thanks for reading!

Love,

Evelyn
